This school year, Riverside Central, Franklin, and Gage Elementary Schools have been selected to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). The FFVP is funded by the USDA and is administered by the Minnesota Department of Education. During the school day, a fresh fruit or vegetable snack will be provided to students in their classroom. The main goal of the FFVP is to increase fruit and vegetable consumption in elementary school children as well as provide nutrition education in the classroom. This equates to providing about 30,000 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables to our students each month.
