When is the first day of school?

The first day of 9th grade is Monday, August 28.

It’s exactly how it sounds, it's the first day for our 9th-grade students to experience the transition to high school. Students have the school day to get comfortable with their new schedules, ask questions, learn the layout of the building, and meet their peers.

The first day of school for 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade high school students will be Tuesday, August 29.

 

What are the bell times?

  • High School starts at 8:10 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m.
  • Phoenix and RAIL start at 8:20 a.m. and end at 2:20 p.m.
  • RALC starts at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m.
  • RPS Online starts at 8:10 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m.

 

When can my student pick up their schedule?

Century High School


9th Grade Students: Wednesday, August 16, from 4-7 p.m.

9th-grade students can pick up their schedule and take their pictures in the Century Cafeteria. During this time, school tours will be hosted, and there will be an opportunity for students to find their lockers, take their yearbook and ID photos, and get to know the school as a whole.

10th through 12th grade students: Thursday, August 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

10-12th-grade students schedule pick up and picture day in the Century Cafeteria.

Students can pick up their school-issued Chromebooks and take yearbook and ID photos at this time.

If you're unavailable to pick up your schedule during the timeframe above, schedules will be live on Skyward after your designated day, or you can pick up your schedule at the Century High School office during work hours anytime after your schedule pick-up time.

John Marshall High School


August 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Schedule Pick-Up for all grades

If you cannot make the pick-up, schedules will be online in Skyward beginning August 17.

Mayo High School


10th-12th grade: August 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (enter by Door 6)

9th grade: August 16 from 12 to 5 p.m. (enter by Door 6 )

Students should enter Door 6 for Schedule Pick Up, where they can also take photos for the yearbook and their school IDs, pick up their school-issued Chromebook, register for athletics and activities, purchase athletic passes, pick up health forms and drop off medication, and more.

If you cannot attend the Schedule pick up, students can come into the office on August 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. but will take their ID and yearbook picture on picture retake day on September 8.

CTECH


A welcome letter with more information for CTECH students will be sent out via Skyward. 

RPS Online


RPS Online is hosting an open house/Step into Learning is Monday, August 28, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Tuesday, August 29, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Longfellow Elementary School (2435 20th St SE, Rochester, MN 55904).

Students take school pictures, pick up materials and technology, and class schedules.

RAIL


Classes will start on August 28 for RAIL students.

RALC


9th-grade students start Monday, August 28.

10th-12th grade students start Tuesday, August 29.

Phoenix Academy


The first day for Phoenix Academy is August 28.

 

Where can I find School Supply Lists?

Most teachers will provide information on school supplies during the first few days of class at the high school level.

 

What about transportation information?

Bus route information has already been mailed, but please ensure that you have completed a registered rider form if you have a student enrolled in a district-wide option school or non-public school student to ensure your child is on the correct route. If you have questions about your transportation route, please email our transportation department or call 507.328.4260.
