Since 2023, our staff-led team has worked to make Rochester Public Schools a welcoming place for LGBTQ+ students and staff. We invite you to join our community of learners and advocates.

  • You are interested in joining our group. We meet quarterly to socialize and plan future projects, typically at a local restaurant. All RPS staff are welcome.

  • You want to join our mailing list. We periodically share resources tailored towards teachers and school staff.

  • You notice something is wrong or you would like peer support. We will listen and provide help when possible.

What's an employee resource group?

"An employee resource group (ERG) is a voluntary, employee-led diversity and inclusion initiative that is formally supported by an organization. ERGs generally are organized on the basis of common identities, interests, or backgrounds with the goal of supporting employees by providing opportunities to network and create a more inclusive workplace." - Gartner.com

What is LGBTQ+?

"Acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer. The Q generally stands for queer when LGBTQ organizations, leaders, and media use the acronym. In settings offering support for youth, it can also stand for questioning. LGBT and LGBTQ+ are also used, with the + added in recognition of all non-straight, non-cisgender identities.
