A pay-to-ride option is available for parents of students who don't qualify for transportation.
For the 2019-2020 school year, the district plans to offer to-and from-school transportation on its regular buses if space is available, and students are able to walk to an existing bus stop without encountering an extraordinary hazard. Whether space is available will be known after school begins when routes and ridership can be evaluated.
The cost for the service, if available, is $2.00 per day (per student) for the 2019-2020 school year. Payment must be made in full in order to receive routing. To request or check the availability of this service, contact the office of Transportation Services by phone (507) 328-4260 or in person at the Edison Building | Room 122 , 615 7th ST SW, Rochester, MN 55902.
State statute allows school districts to charge for transportation for non-qualifying students but also states that we cannot discriminate based on ability to pay. If students qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch, they may qualify for busing if the criteria regarding bus stops and space apply. Please visit the Transportation Office with proof of qualification.
