Neighborhood Schools

Students are automatically assigned to their neighborhood school when enrolling at Rochester Public Schools. Each school has its own unique environment and community. When students attend a school near their home, families can more easily connect with teachers and contribute as school volunteers and leaders.

Elementary Schools

Bamber Valley Elementary School

Situated in Southwest Rochester, Bamber Valley Elementary serves approximately 840 students in grades K-5. We are also the district base school for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Our students are grouped in classroom using the Total School Cluster Grouping plan which is a research-based model for grouping students and differentiating instruction to improve teaching, learning and achievement of all students.

Bishop Elementary School

Harriet Bishop Elementary, constructed in 1959, is located in Northwest Rochester and serves approximately 450 students in grades K-5. Bishop is a welcoming neighborhood school, striving to ensure that all students individual needs are known, met and celebrated.

Churchill | Hoover Elementary Schools

Churchill and Hoover Elementary Schools are located in Northeast Rochester. Churchill/Hoover can be described as one school, but two sites. Churchill serves students in grades K-2, while Hoover is just down the hill and serves students in grades 3-5. An addition was added to Hoover in fall 2018 of 21 classrooms to meet the needs of our Early Learning students. Collectively, these schools serve just a bit more than 650 early learning and K-5 students. Go, Huskies!

Elton Hills Elementary School

Elton Hills is located in Northwest Rochester and is home to more than 480 K-5 students. The Elton Hills Community welcomes all students to support learning, working hard, making friends, and having fun. The EH Eagles achieve great success by believing in each other.

Folwell Elementary School

Folwell Elementary is a close community of just over 340 K-5 students in Southwest Rochester. The building was constructed in 1930 but has changed as we have grown. Folwell staff believe all children can achieve at the highest levels and we want all families to feel valued and connected as our partners. By working together, we can accomplish great things and soar to new heights for our students!

Franklin Elementary School

Originally constructed in 1969, Ben Franklin is situated in a Southeast Rochester neighborhood and serves approximately 675 students in grades K-5. Our students are grouped in classrooms under the Total School Cluster Grouping model, a specific, research-based, total-school application of cluster grouping combined with differentiation, focused on meeting the needs of students while also improving teaching, learning, and achievement of all students.

Gage Elementary School

Gage Elementary School, located in Northwest Rochester, is a full-service community school focusing on which means it is both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. Its integrated focus on academics, youth development, family support, health and social services, and community development aims to improve student learning, strengthen families and nurture a healthier community. Gage is also home to also houses the district-wide Kindergarten - 5th grade Spanish Immersion program. Together, the neighborhood school and Spanish Immersion program are home to more than 750 K-5 Gage Gators.

Gibbs Elementary School

Gibbs Elementary is home of the Penguins. Gibbs opened its doors in the fall of 2009 and now serves approximately 850 Kindergarten through 5th grade students in Northwest Rochester. Gibbs uses the Total School Cluster Grouping model, a specific, research-based, total-school application of cluster grouping combined with differentiation, focused on meeting the needs of students while also improving teaching, learning, and achievement of all students.

Jefferson Elementary School

Located in Northeast Rochester, Jefferson serves 600 plus Kindergarten through 5th grade students. It is also home to the district’s autism spectrum disorder program, which provides specialized support for students and enriches the entire learning community. Jefferson staff are passionate about students and learning, and their commitment to do whatever it takes shines through in all they do. At Jefferson, families are valued partners in their children’s education and by working together with families, Jefferson Jaguars can achieve great academic and social and emotional success.

Pinewood Elementary School

Pinewood Elementary School is a neighborhood school that is home to around 340 kindergarten through fifth grade students.  Our 1 to 1 iPad initiative offers each student the opportunity to create, design and enhance their learning through technology. We embrace the notion that our students, parents, and staff are all part of the Pinewood family.   Our staff are dedicated to developing students who are readers, problem-solvers, and good citizens, ready to face this ever changing world.

Riverside Central Elementary School

Riverside Central Elementary School is located blocks from downtown Rochester and serves close to 500 K-5 grade students. Riverside is a full-service community school which means it is both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. Its integrated focus on academics, youth development, family support, health and social services and community development leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities. Riverside is also recognized as a Turnaround Arts School through the Perpich Center for the Arts.

Sunset Terrace Elementary School

Sunset Terrace is located in Northwest Rochester. The school serves approximately 690 K - 5 grade students, known as the Wildcats. Sunset Terrace staff believe all students have the ability to achieve at high levels. Curriculum is an integration between core skill sets, like reading and math, as well as social and emotional skills. Families play a critical role in their children’s experience. The Sunset Terrace community believes families play a critical role in their children’s education experience and aim to collaborate with each family as a partner in education.

Middle Schools

John Adams Middle School

John Adams is located in Northwest Rochester and serves approximately 1,125 students in grades 6-8. JA staff strive to foster positive relationships and to develop all students intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Our staff are committed to fostering strong relationships, high academic achievement, and social and emotional skills.

Kellogg Middle School

This Northeast Rochester middle school first began serving students in fall 1989. Today, the Kellogg staff serve around 1,040 students in grades 6-8. Kellogg is the district base for the middle school Newcomers Program as well as a segment of the district-wide Highly Gifted Programing. Kellogg staff are dedicated to meeting each student’s individual needs, helping them develop socially and emotionally, as well as academically.

Willow Creek Middle School

Willow Creek, located in Southwest Rochester, serves close to 1,100 6-8 grade students. The staff strive to foster positive relationships and to develop all students intellectually, socially, and emotionally. We are the home base for the middle school Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program. All students who attend WC will see themselves as scholars, with a sense of belonging and purpose.

High Schools

Century High School

Century High School opened its doors in 1997 in Northeast Rochester. Serving approximately 1,500 students in grades 9-12, 86%* of Century Panthers graduate to institutions of higher education. Century High School maintains a curriculum designed to meet the needs of its diverse student body with opportunities in  Advanced Placement (AP) courses, Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), College in the Schools (CIS), Tech Prep, and Project Lead the Way (PLTW).

John Marshall High School

The original high school in Rochester, John Marshall serves approximately 1,730 students in grades 9 - 12. Located in Northwest Rochester, JM Rockets pride themselves on a strong school culture, giving back to the community each December through a program called JM Gives. 82%* of John Marshall Rockets graduate to institutions of higher education. The JM curriculum is designed to meet the needs of its diverse student body with opportunities in  Advanced Placement (AP) courses, Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), College in the Schools (CIS), Tech Prep, and Project Lead the Way (PLTW).

Mayo High School

Mayo High School is located in Southeast Rochester and serves approximately 1,750 students in grades 9 - 12. 81%* of Mayo High School Spartans graduate to institutions of higher education. The Mayo High School curriculum is designed to meet the needs of its diverse student body with opportunities in  Advanced Placement (AP) courses, PostSecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO), College in the Schools (CIS), Tech Prep, and Project Lead the Way (PLTW).
